For the past few months I’ve been exploring the local farmers market and making connections with local farmers. A few weeks ago at the farmers market, one of the farmers gave me some free ginger to try. The ginger tasted fresh, vibrant, and amazing! I had a lot of fresh ginger and thought of the different ways to incorporate it in my diet. I decided to put ginger in my morning smoothies and to create a ginger and lemon tea. I love drinking tea, and I really loved the health benefits I received from drinking the ginger lemon tea. It was a great sweet treat at night! Lemon-ginger tea is an infusion of lemon juice and ginger root rather than a true tea, but either way my body feels amazing after drinking it. I love drinking ginger and lemon tea because it tastes great, is packed with numerous health benefits, and satisfies my sweet cravings. Below are 5 health benefits you receive from drinking ginger lemon tea. 1. Boosts Immune System
Ginger has a high level of antioxidants which boost your immune system, by fighting free radicals that damage DNA and may contribute to the development of health problems, including cancer, arthritis and heart disease. Lemon juice is an excellent source of vitamin C, which helps heal wounds and repair and maintain bones and teeth. 2. Relief from Nausea, Indigestion, Bloating and the Flu In the onset of a cold or the flu, ginger lemon tea can act as an effective natural antibiotic. It eases the pain and uneasiness of an upset stomach. Ginger and lemon both lower the chances of heartburn, indigestion, bloating, and belching. Ginger and lemon enable food to be better absorbed by the body and improves your appetite. 3. Supports Healthy Skin and Hair Ginger lemon tea is rich in antioxidants and vitamins which are beneficial for perfect skin, hair and health. The antibacterial and antiseptic properties protect your skin from infections. Vitamin A and C promotes hair growth and supports strong beautiful hair. 4. Cleanses Your Liver Lemon helps stimulate the liver and the secretion of bile from the gallbladder. This prevents liver stagnation, which can lead to skin problems, blood toxicity and lowered immunity. 5. Supports Healthy Digestion Lemon-ginger tea really gets the digestive juices flowing. More digestive juices means improved digestion, reduced heartburn, regulated appetite, reduced flatulence, reduced nausea and better nutrient absorption.
