My name is Emily Barry. I began my yoga journey a few years ago when I visited a local hot yoga studio for a unique workout. For over 7 years, I have obtained a consistent workout routine. Although, I was getting bored of my typical cardio and weight training routine and decided hot yoga would be a new and interesting way to workout. I stumbled into an intermediate hot vinyasa class and was surprised by the strength and endurance this class required. By the end of the 75 minute class, I sweat so much my mat turned into a slip-and-slide. I could barely keep up with the other students in the class. Instead of being discouraged, I took on this challenge.
I was intrigued by the practice of yoga and wanted to begin a daily practice. Unknowingly, this was the start of my life-changing mind, body, and spirit journey. My personal practice, mindset, and outlook on the practice of yoga has evolved since my first hot yoga class and will continue to evolve. Yoga is a unique practice because of the ever-evolving nature ingrained in the founding of the practice. I will always be a yoga student, because I am constantly learning about my practice, body, mind, spirit, and purpose in life.
I have practiced yoga for over 4 years. In June 2016, I went to Kripalu for my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training. In July 2016, I went back to Kripalu for a 250 hour Integrative Yoga Therapy Teacher Training. As an instructor I bring my compassionate, supportive, fun, and enthusiastic personality to every class. I am currently taking private clients for meditation, therapeutic yoga, yoga nidra, Kripalu yoga, and posture clinics.
I have experienced the life-changing powers of a consistent yoga practice, a practice that transforms the mind, body, and spirit. Research has shown yoga to be beneficial for: anxiety, depression, stress, hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, low back pain, weight reduction, immune system, nervous system, digestive system, and more! The practice of yoga has countless benefits for your mind, body, and soul. I am eager to guide others through their yoga journey, helping them to experience the amazing benefits of yoga.
