St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner! Usually after a day filled with drinking, I wake up feeling bloated, dehydrated, nauseous, and my head hurts. My Luck of the Spinach Smoothie recipe is a great way to restore nutrients to your body and help you relieve hangover symptoms. Even if you don’t have a hangover this smoothie is an amazing way to obtain nutrients your body needs. Every ingredient in my Luck of the Spinach Smoothie is packed with nutrients to help cure your hangover. Spinach is loaded with folic acid, sulfur and vitamin C, all nutrients that help ward off hangover symptoms. Spinach also provides the body with vitamins A, C, K, B1, B2, B3, B6 and E, folate, dietary fiber, calcium, selenium, zinc, phosphorus, potassium, copper, omega-3 fatty acids and iron. Apples contain nutrients, fiber, vitamin C and antioxidants that will eliminate your headache and restore minerals lost after a night of drinking. Drinking lowers your immune system, but blueberries are great way to boost your immune system after a night out! Banana's are gentle on the stomach and good for keeping up blood sugar. Bananas contain a lot of potassium. When we drink alcohol we lose potassium, which contributes to hangover symptoms such as headaches, nausea, and dehydration. Bananas are a great food to consume after drinking. Chia seeds are extremely hydrating for the body and they provide some much-needed omega 3, which helps your body to feel rehydrated. Green tea is filled with antioxidants, will help rehydrate your body, and reduces hangover symptoms such as nausea and headaches. Coconut oil improves brain function and balances glucose levels. Lemon juice detoxifies the stomach of unwanted materials and boosts your immune system. All of these ingredients are a great to recharge after a night of drinking! This smoothie is packed with necessary nutrients your body needs, regardless of whether you drank alcohol the previous night or had a cup of tea.
