Happy National Peanut Butter Lover’s Day! I LOVE peanut butter its so creamy, filling and versatile! I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate, than to post my homemade Cinnamon Raisin Peanut Butter recipe! I love making my own peanut butter because I can control the texture, flavor, and all of the ingredients going into my peanut butter. Making peanut butter from scratch is a lot cheaper than buying store-bought peanut butter and it tastes more flavorful and delicious. Peanut butter tastes great and has many nutrients including: potassium, protein, healthy fats, fiber, antioxidants, magnesium, and more!

Making your own peanut butter is fun, easy, and tastes yummy! You can get really creative with your peanut butter recipes by adding cocoa powder, chocolate, honey, hazelnuts and more! You can eat peanut butter with practically everything: crackers, toast, yogurt, oatmeal, smoothies, pretzels, celery, apples, bananas, chocolate, and much more. I like my homemade peanut butter so much that I won’t buy pre-made peanut butter anymore!

Cinnamon Raisin Peanut Butter

Prep Time: 15 minutes          Cooking time: 8 minutes          Makes: Approximately 1 ½ cups

INGREDIENTS:
3 cups unsalted unroasted peanuts
4 Tbsp. vegetable oil (or canola, safflower but NO olive oil)
1 ½ Tbsp. honey
1/2 cup raisins
1 ½ Tbsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 Tbsp. granulated sugar (optional)

DIRECTIONS:
  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Add the nuts to a cake pan or rimmed baking sheet.
  2. Roast nuts for 3 minutes, shake pan then roast another 3 to 5 minutes or until the nuts are lightly browned and smell nutty (careful, they can burn quickly). Let cool until you can handle them.
  3. Meanwhile, put the raisin in the food processor, grind into small pieces and set aside.
  4. Put the peanuts in the food processor and grind into small pieces.
  5. Add the oil and process again until very well blended; it will be quite soft at this point.
  6. Add salt, cinnamon and if you are using sugar add this in now, process until combined.
  7. Add the honey and process. The honey will make the peanut butter tighten up and become more solid. At this point the texture should be fairly soft. If it is too hard add a little more oil, but not too much.
  8. Then stir in the raisins.
  9. Enjoy!
How to store: Transfer the peanut butter to a food-safe container, cover, and then store in the refrigerator up to one month. If over the month the nut butter separates, use a spoon to stir it until it is well blended.

What is your favorite nut butter? Do you make it yourself?
